Pixel Hearts

While 5th grade prepped and waited for the glue to dry on their upcoming color wheel project, students completed a quick drawing assignment creating a pixel heart.

Drawing Shapes

Kindergarten discussed shapes.  We watching a video about each shape, danced to a shape song, and drew each shape along with related objects.

Britto Inspired Landscapes

2nd graders continued our landscape projects by creating a fun and colorful drawing inspired by the artist Romero Britto.

Mouse Color Equations

1st grade watched a read aloud of the book Mouse Paint by Ellen Stoll Walsh. Then I demonstrated our color experiments by mixing Red, Blue and Yellow flavored drink powders. Students watched as yellow and blue created green, yellow and red created orange, and red and blue made purple. Then students documented our finding by coloring their mouse themed color equation worksheets.

Value Painted Cubes

4th grade painted value cubes. First students drew their cube using 3 rhombus shapes. Then we discussed the term value and how to create a tint using white and a shade using black. They were also introduced to complementary colors which are opposite on the color wheel. Based on all this information, students then chose a color for their cube and mixed paint to create a tint and a shade.

Students then used their cubes complementary color to paint a background, again showing value using tints and shades.  They finished their project by outlining the edges with a black oil pastel.
