Celebrating Black History

For our school wide Black History Night, all students created artwork that was displayed in our hallways.    

Kindergarteners were given a crown, based off artwork by Jean-Michel Basquiat, to color and draw around.

 

 

 

1st grade glued paper squares in a radiating pattern to assemble artwork inspired by Alma Thomas.

 

2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students chose an African American to write about in their classroom.  Then during art, students practice portioning the human face before creating portraits of their chosen person.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Love Bugs

KG followed along with visual directions to draw bugs for Valentine's day.

 

 

 

Paper Hearts

After viewing artwork by Burton Morris, 3rd grade created heart themed paper cutout collages.

 

 

Heart Art

4th and 5th grade students viewed artwork by Jim Dine before designing their own heart themed art illustrating four of their favorite things in life.

2nd grade students designed and colored a heart with wings inspired by artist Romero Britto.
